bergerac

Influenced by the Atlantic ocean, the Dordogne valley has a mild, wet climate. The Bergerac hills and terraces with their wide variety of soils (limestone, gravel, molasse, etc.), can produce top-quality wines. As in Bordeaux, cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon and merlot grapes are used to make red wines, while sauvignon, sémillon and muscadelle are grown for whites. The region also grows malbec, ugni blanc, chenin, etc.
